Days Hotel Belfast
On the corner of Hope Street and next to Sandy Row is Days Hotel Belfast. This building is hard to miss judging from its towering red-brick façade. In fact, this has the accolade of being the largest Days Hotel in Europe and perhaps with just a little tweaking it could take Belfast’s top spot sometime in the near future.
The Days Hotel Belfast opened in 2003, offering great value for money in a superb location in the City Centre. Providing quality three star ensuite accommodation just off Belfast's 'Golden Mile'.1 It was even recommended in the 2007 Michelin Guide.
Just inside the entrance is a long narrow room that serves many uses. There’s a bar and small lounge area next to the front desk. The dining area which can seat up to 150 people also shares this same space. The decoration is typical of a budget hotel and although there’s nothing particularly striking about this floor first impressions reveal that quite an effort is made to keep the place clean, tidy and clutter free.
Back towards the door is an internet point including free Wifi option and this efficient little touch-screen terminal. Local services are well illustrated and just a tap away.
Along the corridor is the only space dedicated for conferences and meetings. The Lincoln Room is again quite basic and plain along with the Days Hotel budget model but it will easily accommodate 40 people and is equipped with technical facilities.
Up on the first floor is this room for disabled bodied persons. It’s not too unlike the classic double styled rooms. All basic amenities are neatly fitted into corner spaces and obviously here there’s a specific emphasis for wheel chair access so space is optimized for those circumstances. The bathroom is also quite spacious and well organized.
This next room is aptly named the ‘Days Work Zone’ and has been upgraded slightly for those busy people who require extra work space for computers and other work paraphernalia. There’s even an economy styled ironing stand tucked away behind the door.
The hotel boasts eight floors with an incredible 250 bedrooms. The occupancy rate however can practically be doubled since this family friendly hotel has the ability to provide extra bedding if needed. And with up to 90,000 visitors a year it’s no wonder additional space is sometimes requested.
Another great advantage from this top floor is of course the city wide view from the windows. Belfast is laid bare for all to gaze at and all those shops, attractions and nightlife spots can be located with ease. And just on its doorstop too is the Great Victoria Street Bus & Train Station.
