Ogham Gallery

Located in the Conway Mill since early 2007 is the Ogham Gallery & Artist’s Studios. Eamon Maguire is a maker of fine Bodhrans and sculptor of Bog Oak and Native Timbers. He is also a recognised painter and an enthusiastic Irish traditional musician.

There’s never a dull moment around here since the various displays on the walls and around the workshop including art, photos, tokens of foreign adventures all have a tale to tell. International collaboration projects mixed with local folklore inhabit this place but don’t be fooled into believing everything you hear.

In fact, this workshop is quite a focal point for just about anyone. Foreign visitors normally drop by along with Eamon’s friends and those curious about this much talked about artist who happens to be the brother of another famous Belfast barber in the past called Robbie the barber.

This workshop is also shared by Alice McGuinness who specialises in stained glass designs using traditional lead, copperfoil and fused glass techniques. Examples of her exhibits are seen in this glass cabinet.

For those really fortunate enough, it has also been known that if there just happens to be a few musicians hanging around a mini-fest cum ceili will kick off in the corner.

Whatever your taste in art everyone is made welcome here and if nothing else the craic and banter will surely be entertaining.
