The South Belfast Northern Ireland Supporters Club was founded in the Albion Bar. This building was opened by Mr Roy Dickson in 2002. Meetings took place upstairs for a few years then with planning permission they enlarged the premises. Paintings, photos, signed shirts and even the odd player can be seen here.

S.B.N.I. Supporters Club

This is the South Belfast Northern Ireland Supporters Club which was opened on the 29th of July 2002 by the President Mr. Tommy Dickson.

Photos of past and present players decorate the walls in this bar like this one of Grant Mc Cann who happens to be a current player from Sandy Row.

This particular Supporters Club was set up in the mid 1980’s in the Albion Bar better known locally as George’s – shown here in this framed photo.

Pride of place though seems to go to George Best painted here by Rodney Gormley in 2006. Best is also photographed during his sporting glory for Northern Ireland.

Some current and past players stop by occasionally for a drink here. One other sporting legend who was a regular at one time was the great Alex Higgins, otherwise known as ‘The Hurricane’.

In the corner are a group of photos dating from 1985 and taken all over Europe. This group of devotees seen attending an away game in London in 1985 were the founding members.

Probably the most famously celebrated event in this club’s history is recorded in this newspaper article. It illustrates the proud moment when on the 7th of September 2005 Northern Ireland beat England 1-0 at home.

Another fascinating piece of history can be seen from the old and new football shirts on display. A few of them have even been signed. This one however, is the most valuable. It was presented to the club by Roy Mc Ilwaine and is so old that it had to be tied at the top by string to fit on a player.

Upstairs is where the original club members met because downstairs had initially been leased to the clothes shop ‘Miss Nova’ and then a second hand bookshop before planning permission was passed allowing the club to expand to its present size.
