Urban Center
The Urban Center of Bologna is the information and exposure point of the urban and metropolitan changes of Bologna – simply put, it’s a place to illustrate many of the physical changes here in the form of projects to improve living standards.
It was recently renovated and it’s hoped that it will attract interest from citizens and public institutions involved in the development of Bologna and its territory.
There are conference-like facilities, however, these hopes may just be stretching the imagination a little since this center appears little more than a converted bunker. Exposure is given to the Municipal Structural Plan which is a fundamental foundation to take an active and conscious role in the initiatives of this city.
The exhibition follows the evolution of Bologna with maps, pictures, photographs, scale models, videos, interactive points and tri-dimensional animations.
Although centrally located and just below ground level where most tourists and indeed the Bolognese pass over-head this center does not seem to offer very much of interest simply because the exhibitions and information at hand is quite technical in nature judging from the schematic maps and detailed information regarding the evolution of modern transport systems.
The purpose of involving or at least making people aware of what may be around the corner for them is of course well intended but perhaps this is one place only for those who really need to visit.
