The Museo de Dragones is situated next to Capitolio Nacional and linked to the first train station in Havana - Villanueva Estacion. Now though, it’s a graveyard for old trains waiting to be restored. Some of them are descendants of the sugar cane production days from the 19th century.

Museo de Dragones

Situated right next to the Capitol building is this little patch of land known as Museo de Dragones since it’s located along the Dragones Street. It appears as mere waste ground with a few skeletons of ancient trains dumped for good measure. However, this area was in fact, part of the first train station of Havana called Villanueva Estacion between 1839-1912. As if by accident this graveyard for trains is more of a transitory ground for those old trains that have to be restored. Among them are some carriages that used to transport the sugar cane production around the country, one of the few obvious vestiges of a thriving economy during the colonial times of the 19th century.
