Empress Elizabeth Statue

Next to the banks of River Passirio is the entrance for a long winding park. Empress Elizabeth of Austria and Queen of Hungary often visited Merano and made an important contribution to the development of Merano as a centre for Health spas. As such the town became a meeting place for European high society. Professor Hermann Klotz made this sculpture of Elizabeth in 1903 from lasser marble.
