Instant access to information on points of interest.
We couldn't agree more which is why our goal at iGuidez.com is to show you how this is possible by producing simple, short and informative travel video guides. Our videos are thoroughly researched so they can be used for tourists, just for the sake of curiosity or even as serious reference material,
For example, we have one of the most comprehensive range of guides for Bologna (and Belfast) anywhere. In fact, we are so confident of our location-based video guides that we bet no other traditional guide of Bologna can compete with us. We will walk you through rooms, show you priceless art works only seen by a handful of people, tour churches and talk about famous sculptures even locals hardly know about, point out architectural features, how much things cost, tour university classrooms all the while explaining the relevant story of what you are seeing.
An extra handy feature built into iGuidez.com is that if you are only interested in a certain type of videos, for example, museums, then go to our 'Category' page and click on that particular category and a list will display only those individual video guides for museums.
Bio
A little bio stats on where this all began:
For many years I've been travelling around Europe after obtaining a degree in German and Spanish at the National University of Galway, Ireland. I've lived in quite a few amazing cities from Santander in Spain right across to Pula in Croatia, worked as a teacher, managing bars and painting, until finally settling down in Bologna, Italy for the last 4.5 years.
Since living in Bologna combined with a natural curiosity to know more about a place I began to poke around to see what this city really had to offer besides the usual attractions. Much to my surprise and probably even to the Bolognese, there are so many historical gems, unseen works of art, poorly visited attractions and so forth all hidden from sight. Whether it's due to the sheer number of these places or a lack of funds to publicise their whereabouts is neither here nor there. I decided that the best way I could share a lot more of what a place really has to offer rather than that what travel guides are being paid to let you know, was to begin producing video guides.
So, iGuidez has been evolving since September 2006, firstly as Jungle Jam Tv before securing the name more aptly named iGuidez. As far as actual video content goes the site could hardly be more successful. I've produced without doubt one of the most extensive and diverse ranges of guides to any city in the world that combines video footage and photos with relevant information all geotagged on maps, making the whole concept easy to follow and, I've no doubt whatsoever, very valuable to future generations of tourists.
In the start-up world of business though, iGuidez is struggling to catch on, quite litterally. (Some of the reasoning for this can be seen in my blog.) Therefore this is not only a personal story of 'my travels' but a real life record of trying to establish a dream, a truly ambitious project that I've been told many times is not only impossible but a way above my capabilities. Part of this certainly has a ring of truth to it as for the past few years the dream has suffered serious setback after setback. Sacrifices I've learnt really do come at a very high price for following a dream. But people often forget that dreams do come true and my one is to expand this model I've so far created to many other cities around the world. When will it happen? Who knows. One thing is for sure though, video guides like mine or the nearest equivalent will be the future of the travel industry and to those seeking general information. As the saying goes: a picture is worth a thousand words! And my part of that history has already been secured.
Of course, it would definitely be a nice after thought if iGuidez could provide me with an income at sometime in the near future. The next step or rather great leap is to move to Rome in 2010. Apart from more developement work too on the web site, this following destination has been chosen carefully. Rome to put it bluntly boasts one of the greatest cities in the world from a historical perspective, religiously, architecturally, artistically... and the list goes on and on. My aim is a simple one, to repeat what I have done for Bologna but much bigger and better than ever. Naturally, it may take a while as I'm playing alone in this field and all costs are being paid by yours truly. Time to return to the teaching and painting again! However, the wait will be worth it so keep coming back to check out our progress and don't forget to email, tweet, skype or via any other form of communication tell others about iGuidez.com and how we dream about conquering the travel industry with our travel video guides!
