A privately run hostel within the castle walls of Sambuca. A fabulous example of restoration done right. Many of the original features of this ancient building have been saved even some of its furnishings. Windows afford Incredible views over the valleys of Reno and Limentra di Sambuca. Also includes a free bivouac area.

Enniskeen House Hotel is outside footage only. Built late 1800’s by the owner of Murray’s tobacco firm. This is a fine building illustrating an external beauty in architecture surprisingly in great condition and well looked after by its present hotel owners.

Farset International opened 11th of December 2003by Mr William T McCarter (IFI). Jackie Hewitt, from the Shankill, was the inspiration for the project which sought to provide an area for cross-community dialogue and an affordable hotel. Dogged by initial problems this is now a success story sitting that has since diverged into other social streams.

Established 1971, the Europa Hotel is said to have reflected the fortunes of Belfast. The Hastings Group took over in 1993 turning Europe’s most bombed hotel into a tourist haven. Many artistic works inside are by inspired local talent. After a refurbishment costing £6m it hosted President Clinton in 1995 officially naming a suite after him.

Built in 1919 Casa del Cientifico was former residence Cuba’s second president, José Miguel Gómez. The colonial building shows off rococo furnishings, neoclassical courtyard, tile-and-mahogany lined dining room, marble stairway and columns. It’s a moderate hotel with all the style of a high end one and views over the Prado.

Beltran de Santa Cruz Hotel is an early 18th century building originally part of Palacio de los Condes de Jaruco next door and built by Beltran de Santa Cruz y Aranda. It boasts gracious colonial architecture and interior design. Contemporary art work displayed on walls by Roberto Loreto Marin Rodriguez and Catalan. French Princes once stayed here.

Built in the 12th century by a consortium belonging to the powerful Guelf family Prendiparte. Now under the ownership of Matteo Giovanardi whose father bought it in 1972. It’s now an exclusive B&B but in the past it served as a military fort and a prison. Ancient graffiti can still be seen on the walls. Spectacular views from the roof top terrace.

Opened in 1994 Belfast International Youth hostel is next to Shaftesbury Square. With only 120 beds, it expanded to 154 in 2004 with more amenities for groups and families. It’s not for profit organisation that is growing quickly particularly with those visitors from America and Australia.
