Constructed 1864-1865 according to the design of the architect Coriolano Monti. Two earlier palazzi were demolished to make way for the square. A statue to Camillo Benso Count of Cavour by Carlo Monari sits in the middle of it. Ernesto Balbo Bertone di Sambuy designed the gardens.

Lady’s Mile
Wednesday, June 7th, 2006
Although strictly speaking this spot is adjacent to Lady’s Mile but is nevertheless part of the same area. Plenty of space to let loose in any vehicle. At the southern end is the British Military zone made all the more obvious from low flying craft and barbed wire bordering.

The walk over the Divis Mountain was brought about by the National Trust in 2004. It features almost 2,000 acres of upland heath and blanket bog. It supports wildlife and many plants. This is also home to archaeological remains, Bronze Age burial cairns and used as a British army training area. The views over Belfast and beyond are spectacular.

A narrow, little street that sounds as tasty as it looks. Out of the way fish restaurants are found here surrounded by colourful wall murals and houses to match. The area runs parallel with Porto Canale.
