Piazza Cavour

Wednesday, June 7th, 2006

Piazza Cavour is the center of this quaint village. The road passing through it was for many centuries the main route into Forlì from this direction. A fountain in the middle of the square was commissioned in 1927 by Arnaldo Mussolini to celebrate the region’s famous wine making tradition. In the evenings locals gather round it speaking in dialect.

Piazza Cavour

Wednesday, June 7th, 2006

A marble fountain from 1543 takes center place while a standard measuring scale from 1544 is found under the arches. The Square was the early medieval centre of town before Rimini succumbed to a Roman street plan.
