Palacio de los Capitanes Generales

Built 1776-1792 by slaves, the Palacio de los Capitanes Generales is where the governor Felipe de Fondesviela resided. Designed by Antonio Fernández de Trebejos with materials imported from Europe. Now the Museo de la Ciudad containing many priceless, historical artifacts from its colonial past like paintings, antique furniture, sculptures etc.

Camara de Representantes

A neoclassical palace in baroque style. Previously Camara de Representantes (House of Representatives) 1902-1929. Various ministries occupied it. The Education dept launched the campaign of eradicating illiteracy Resolución para la Campaña de Alfabetización here. Exhibits on display include uniforms, medals, flags and historical documents.

Museo de la Revolucion

Completed in 1920 this former Presidential Palace is now the Museo de la Revolucion (Museum of the Revolution). Made of white stone from Capellania and Carrara marble, it cost 1.5m pesos. Exhibits include weapons, propaganda, photos, paintings and sculptures by Armando G Menocal, Antonio Rodriguez Morey, Esteban Valderrama, Mariano Miguel Gonzalez.

Casa Natale Mussolini

Casa Natale Mussolini was a simple rural building where the Mussolini family lived in for a few years. The commune of Predappio restored it to host exhibitions. Florestano Di Fausto designed the square in front of the house with grand steps up to it but Mussolini had them demolished. A copper bust in the attic is the only fascist mark left here.

Museo Davia Bargellini

Museo Davia Bargellini opened 1924 and contains an exquisite collection of art work, baroque furniture, textiles, silverware, rare glass and china exhibits. Work from many famous artists is on display including: Passerrotti, Vincenzo Onofri, Crocifissi, Aspertini, Imola, Fontana, Tiarini, Garafalini, Calvi, Burini, Crespi, Franchescini, Pio, Mazza.

Museo Tattile – Istituto dei Ciechi F. Cavazza

Founded in 1881 by Francesco Cavazza, this institute seeks to help those blind and visually impaired to attain a proper education for life and work. The museum Ateros is one of a kind. Students show off tri-dimensional reproductions of art works by famous painters in Art History. Courses are organised to explore art through touch and perceptions.

Collezioni Comunali D’ Arte

20 rooms of Palazzo D’Accursio dedicated to works of art by famous Bolognese masters from the 1500-1800’s. Previously home to the Cardinal Legate since 1508, many rooms have been superbly restored to within original conditions and also boast a vast collection of donated exhibits, furniture, sculptures – most notably by Palagi, Baruzzi and Rusconi.
