Optimizing hotel videos

Video guides when done right with rich content will eventually rise to the top of search engine lists. As the saying goes: Content is King.

Slowly but surely our video guides are beginning to see positive results on Google’s search engine. Having discussed this subject a few times before, such as here, here and here, we are happy to point out that with a little tweaking on our SEO a few of our hotel videos in Belfast have now reached no.3 and no.9 respectively.

As seen from the list iGuidez follows TvTrip and then YouTube – these previous two are of course big boys in the world of video so it’s quite good that we are now featuring right up there alongside them. More surprisingly though is that this is simply to do with our unique method of adding real geolocation information to each video guide that is well, unqiue, naturally to that place.

To state our point again, the link we show here reveals that the listing of TvTrip is actually of a general query rather than pointing to any particular hotel. Clicking on it then illustrates the list of Belfast hotels that they have produced but where are the individual hotel names in Google? The answer to this is probably more to do with the fact that their video guides are not designed as individual ones. This means then that they will be less visible in search engines especially when other sites like ours become more efficient at projecting information onto the web.

Not that those videos do not have their place on the market. Somebody is paying for the services so there’s profit to gain from these comercial services.

But at the moment their high visibility is down to their web ranking and obviously stronger position as medium sized company. In reality though, they are missing bigger opportunities and longer term links to hotels by not ranking for specific ones. As location based services grow in popularity video guides that are developed with greater emphasis on information will inevitably experience higher indexing and in the end more hits.
