Biblioteca comunale dell’Archiginnasio was erected 1563 by the architect Morandi under Pier Donato Cesi. Under a double loggia are paintings and memorials to past professors. It also boasts over 6,000 heraldic shields and an incredible array of art work throughout the stair wells, walls, rooms and arches. The Anatomy Theatre displays wooden statues by Giannotti.
