Alderman James Carlisle paid for the Carlisle Memorial Methodist Church which was designed by in the Gothic Revival style by W. H. Lynn and built by James Henry. It was dedicated to Carlisle’s son who died at 18. Part of a bigger complex this served a very loyal Methodist congregation until 1982 when it was closed down and now about to fall down.

Built on the earlier Exchange building & Assembly Rooms, Charles Lanyon designed this in Italianate style in 1845. Northern Bank commissioned an impressive façade to inspire customers during turbulent times. Brett praised it as a fine example of Renaissance Revival in Ireland. Underwent more restorations but now The Emer Gallery for exhibitions.
