Tempio Malatestiano

Wednesday, June 7th, 2006

Tempio Malatestinio is a 13th century temple built by Sigismondo Malatesta that still confounds modern scholars as to what it was meant to serve. It wasn’t a Catholic church judging by the lack of anything Christian about it although used as Rimini’s cathedral since 1809. Sculptural reliefs by Agostino are among the greatest works of the Renaissance.
