Belfast videoguides - The Divis Mountain
The walk over the Divis Mountain was brought about by the National Trust in 2004. It features almost 2,000 acres of upland heath and blanket bog. It supports wildlife and many plants. This is also home to archaeological remains, Bronze Age burial cairns and used as a British army training area. The views over Belfast and beyond are spectacular.
Belfast videoguides - The Big Fish
The Big Fish was completed in 1999 by John Kindness to celebrate the regeneration of the River Lagan. Art work illustrating the history of Belfast is printed on ceramic mosaic. Inside it is a time capsule containing more images and information about Belfast.

Completed summer 2007 by Farrans and Gilbert Ash. A multi-storey shopping mall with an incredible view over Belfast from a glass dome measuring 36m in diameter. Shops, food outlets, a cinema and apartments make up this huge project costing 400million pounds.

On University Road is Vagabonds Hostel. Recently opened its run and owned by Curt and Tara who pack enough travel experience between them to know how to run a proper hostel. It’s comfortable, clean and located in a characteristic old Georgian house from the 1800’s.

Ulster Hall was built in 1859 for the Ulster Hall Company by William J Barre. It was sold in 1902 to Belfast Corporation for £13,500. Famous characters who have played or performed here: Charles Dickens, Dalai Lama, Barry McGuigan, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin. The Mullholland Grand Organ is a main feature along with paintings in the Carey Gallery.

159 Donegal Pass - The Water Margin Restaurant is located in a former Presbyterian Church on Donegall Pass. The original roof trusses and columns are painted purple but still present an antique feature to the back drop of Chinese vases and beautiful stain glass windows. A 24 page menu and private rooms with Karaoke has its obvious advantages without being too cheesy.
Belfast videoguides - Statue of Harmony
Located in Thanksgiving Square is the Statue of Harmony by Scottish artist Andy Scott. It was paid for by a cross-community group and unveiled in 2005. The female figure represents allegorical themes taken from Classical and Celtic mythology.

191 Falls Road - Designed by John O'Shea and E J Byrne, St Mary’s University College was a fashionable mixture of several historical styles. Opened 1900 by the Dominican Sisters with 100 female students. It was extended and refurbished in 1953 & 1973. Interesting stain glass and antique furniture are found around the building especially in the chapel for students.
Belfast videoguides - St John The Evangelist
Built 1893-1894 of sandstone and brick. Designed by Henry Seaver, this church was added to over the years. Although quite traditional with a graceful chancel, wide transept and a small gallery, the tower was never completed. Amazing stain glass by renowned artists Caldermac, Evie Hone, Mayer of Munich and William McBride among others.

In Irish it means ‘Mouth of the River Farset’. It’s the capital of Northern Ireland and the largest urban area in the province of Ulster. The City of Belfast has a population of 276,459. It was granted city status in 1888.
