A church and grounds oozing with character. Built in 1712 and seen through a few alterations. Graves of the powerful and rich Earl’s of Roden – once owners of Tollymore Forest. Their last resting places are perhaps an unlikely reflection on their true status as influential landowners in real life. Includes some military personnel from early 1900s.
A parish whose historic origins were first celebrated in a “bohog” at the Burrenreagh Mass Rock between 1660-1760. An old chapel was built here in 1760 by Rev Robert Taylor, then rebuilt in 1830 by the Rev John O'Heggarty. Stations of the Cross are 105 years old. Graveyard includes many graves from the McCartan clan and a quirky headstone.
Parkland with everything going for it. All sorts of recreational and environmental features make this ideal for anyone. First owned by Brian MacHugh of Muntereddy in 1611, passed down through the Hamiltons, Clanbrassill’s and Earl’s of Roden. Enter via a beautiful gothic 1783 gate. Includes footage of a Raith/White Fort circa 500-1000AD.
