Akrotiri Agios Nikolaos Ton Gaton Monastery
The oldest monastery in Cyprus founded by St Helen, mother of Constantine the Great. The Commander Kalokeros released thousands of cats to kill off invading snakes in the area thus saving it. Orthodox nuns moved in 1980s after it was abandoned in 1570. There may not be as many cats now but there’s certainly a strong smell of them lingering.
