Built in 1884 by Bishop Patrick Dorrian and opened 2 years early to cope with the influx of Catholics to the area. A fire destroyed it and it was rebuilt in 1936 with Italian marble favoured by Michelangelo. Further restoration in 2000 including a new parish Pastoral Center behind the church in 1997.
