Previously a 'latteria' but now a trend setting café/bar that also belongs to the KMØ movement. The atmosphere can switch quite dramatically depending on the evening and as such promises to be entertaining regardless. Marsalino is also very central to Bologna.

About Osteria Marsalino

Along Via Marsala is this very well known hotspot called Osteria Marsalino. It’s attended in droves by the local population due to its central position – being near to Via Indipendenza – but also more importantly because it’s quite a hip café bar with a changing atmosphere to suit the occasion.

The large seating area outside can sit 120 people and therefore can be ideal for birthday and graduation parties. A smaller number can fit inside and although there is indeed less room it can make for quite a cosy and interactive social event.

The bar was opened by its present owners in 1998 but for 40 years previously it was in fact an old ‘latteria’ – milk factory. Hence, they’re continuing a long tradition to nourish the locals, albeit with a different kind of liquid!

An interesting characteristic of Marsalino will be their most recent news that they will be joining a new and growing movement referred to from the acronym ‘KMØ’, meaning ‘Kilometre Zero’.

This group of traders is an environmentally friendly movement seeking to use only food and local produce which has travelled very little distance to its destination. Again, it reflects how this little osteria is moving with the times by attracting a cool mix of clientele while at the same time modernizing the service industry.
