Bologna St Francis D’Assisi Monument

A bronze monument to the memory of St Francis of Assisi is more than obvious here judging by its very high plinth. The park has no name but one would then assume it must be St Francis Park.

St Francis D’Assisi Monument

On the corner of Bellinzona and Via Saragozza is this small park without a name. Although one would presume that its dedicated to the Saint who stands about 50 feet high up on this plinth in the middle of the park.

It seems that the shadow of nearby buildings is going to make it disappear at any moment. Made out of bronze this statue of St Francis of Assisi may appear slightly out of proportion to its surroundings.

On the side are biblical references and an historic note about the Cappucini Monks in Bologna. And as it happens this corner leads to St Joseph’s church where the Cappucini Monks also reside in their convent.
