About Trattoria delle Belle Arti
This trattoria, which was established in 1998, is set in the heart of Bologna’s university area and therefore, is also the back-drop to a vibrant social scene. As if to underline this point, inside reflects the true diversity and colour that exists around these streets.
On first impressions, the multitude of food stocked on shelves and around every nook and cranny offers the visitor an amazing array of museum-like items on display, however, this is also home to ‘Ristoro del Meridione’, which acts as a point of sale for the food they serve from the kitchen restaurant.
The walls too, are frescoed to illustrate that traditional ways of preparing dishes are still taken seriously here. In addition, tools and old fashioned utensils help to create that little authentic atmosphere of rustic farmhouses where in fact, everything here has indeed come from.
The Mediterranean style cuisine in particular hails from the home town of the owner: the Basilicata region in the south of Italy. For this reason, it’s prepared with special care by Guido and even cooked by the owner himself. He is always on call and available for a friendly chat in between meals.
Some of those products they serve up and on sale include: Pasta, olive oil, legumes, preserved vegetables in oil, jams, liquors, bread, parmesan cheese, salumi, balsamic vinegar plus, many other delicacies from all over Italy. All products are hand-made.
There are three rooms allowing for quite a few diners to be seated and even private functions to be held here. The cosy environment and eye-catching objects all around will no doubt encourage much discussion and debate within these walls.
Finally, to accompany every exquisite meal one requires a fine wine. The restaurant is stocked with a large selection of wines, numbering in the region of 300, so the choice and quality of which one to consume is only limited to the imagination of its selector.
