Bologna Ugo Bassi Art Work

A series of art which may date to the same period as the building, mid 1900s, therefore may also originate as a symbol of fascism. Figures and designs clearly depict people at work while industries portrayed here may indicate the fascist need to promote national pride and success as a sign of superiority.

About Ugo Bassi Art Work

Along the middle of Ugo Bassi street is a large office and shopping complex looking quite plain and ordinary. However, just above where people queue for the bus is a series of approximately 72 pieces of art work. There doesn’t appear to be any details readily available concerning the art but it may be assumed that since the construction of the building itself dates to around the early to mid 1900s that there’s actually a fascist element in these designs.

This inference to fascism can be seen in the figures and details represented in each tablet. For example, many of the human figures are clearly depicting men and women hard at work; blacksmiths, joiners, labourers and factory workers.

Everyone is equal and must strive to work as hard as the next person thus, serving a fascist mandate that does not differentiate between a doctor and a secretary.

Industries are also represented here such as ship building, engineering, farming, education, health and so forth. Again, underpinning another significant fascist attribute which seeks to promote national pride and success as a measure of their superior makeup.
