Bologna Victoria Station English Pub
About Victoria Station English Pub
Amazingly, this London bus sits majestically on top of Victoria Station Pub, opened in 1994 to much fanfare and celebrations. Today, this family owned pub still continues to act as a beacon for the English pub scene and hosts many reminders of its past connections with England such as the red telephone box at the door, typical Anglo furniture and museum-like exhibits on display all over the pub.
It has probably one of the largest bar counters in Bologna, so there shouldn’t be a problem cuing up for a drink at least! Although there’s actually no English bitters on tap, the beer list is quite substantial as this is home to many foreign and local beers.
This beer garden is opened up more during the hotter weather. It has enough space to combine a restaurant-pizzeria into a sports entertainment bar for younger people and naturally, can host all sorts of parties on request.
Young and old alike mix freely here. For this reason the pub is a hive of activity since it also includes a wide variety of cocktails, great food served in the internal main room or in the external garden.
Depending on the season 500-800 people can squeeze into this pub so if there’s one place in Bologna where the atmosphere is buzzing, hunger is being satisfied and everyone seems to be content in their own corner this is surely the place to be hanging out.
Not to be put off by its sheer size though, the advantage of its layout however, is that diners, drinkers and those watching tv are separated so there’s no fear of feeling that you’re being thrown into one big melting point – but rather see it as one big family reunion whereupon when it’s time to escape to another area of the house you can do so quite freely here.
