Rimini Bridge of Tiberius

Bridge of Tiberius is a five arched bridge completed in 21A.D. during the reign of Tiberius. It’s a Roman marvel considering it’s still in constant use 2,000 years later. After the Greek-Gothic wars it was badly damaged but still carries a lot of traffic. It’s constructed from Istrian stone and actually marks the beginning of Via Emilia.

About Bridge of Tiberius

If there’s one significant piece of evidence illustrating the greatness of Roman engineering around Rimini it would have to be this bridge. It was built 2000 years ago and has remained in constant use ever since even despite the rigours of war and never-ending streams of traffic that pass over it.

The arches are made from Istrian stone while the whole structure is built upon a single foundation completed in 21A.D. during the reign of Tiberius. It actually marks the beginning of Via Emilia.

It’s possible to take a trip on a small boat to get an even closer look at from the water.
